Independent music means everything to me and to MARTYR. Although we are on a quite big label nowadays in the Heavy Metal scene, it is still important to follow your own path. Especially in the music and creativity that you like to expose to the world.

It’s about doing things our own way, staying true to your music, and being supported by people who believe in the scene rather than trends. That’s also why Lazie Indie Magazine and the incredible support from our friends from Lazie Indie and our friends from India mean so much to us.

Over the years, a special bond has grown through genuine support, great interviews, and a shared passion for this independent music. Our appearance at IIMF is aperfect example of what the independent scene can achieve - something that simply would nothave been possible without this dedication and belief.

Independent therefore is not a label. It’s a family.

The award-winning Lazie Indie Magazine is a true treasure to the global music community that brings its readers a wonderful collection of stories, thought leadership, and cultural diversity to a global stage but presented with a small town local feel.

The magazine’s leadership and journalists play a significant role celebrating the contributions to the music community in presenting, promoting and preserving musical art and business around the world. In doing so, this creates a stage where the efforts and the work being done by the artists enhance the significance of this amazing platform to its readers.

In addition, Lazie Indie Magazine has significantly shaped the perception and the lens through which its readers views the role and the overall work of the independent musician first and foremost — visibility and exposure via articles, interviews and reviews that put the spotlight on the work of independent musicians, bringing their work to wider audiences who might not ever encounter them otherwise.

This increased visibility can lead to greater fan engagement and support. Lazie Indie journalists have the power to create narratives around the independent music scene that frame both their stories and challenges in a compelling and intriguing way. Bringing these stories to a broader audience humanizes musicians thus making their own journeys relatable and inspiring to its readers.

Through articles and reviews, journalists like Kathryn Shipley have organically championed independent musicians while praising their artistry and efforts. Lazie Indie Magazine’s positive coverage has consequently enhanced the artist’s credibility which leads to attracting new listeners who fully trust the journalist’s insights.

Lazie Indie has also promoted diverse voices and genres within the global independent music scene, helping to break down barriers and introduce audiences to a broader spectrum of talent and at the same time provide context about socio-economic issues that most affect musicians, such as funding, access to resources and industry challenges. This type of conversation tends to foster a deeper understanding among listeners about the realities of being an independent artist. Most of all, quality music journalism, like what you read in Lazie Indie Magazine provides coverage in a reputable and crucially acclaimed publication opens doors for independent musicians, leading to collaborations, gigs and/or partnerships in business endeavors that advances their careers.

We are so incredibly proud to be a part of the Lazie Indie Magazine family and support the bridges built between the independent musicians and their potential audience. This shapes perceptions and fosters a more connected music community locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Hello Jay, Thank you so much for reaching out and for the kind words.

I truly appreciate the thought behind this message, and I'm honored to be included in your reflection on the Lazie Indie journey. Independent music represents authenticity, creative freedom, and perseverance.

It’s about artists having the courage to share their stories on their own terms and communities coming together to support that vision. Lazie Indie has consistently stood for those values, and that commitment is evident in the way you uplift artists from around the world with genuine care and intention.

My experience with Lazie Indie has always felt rooted in respect for the art and the artist. What you’ve built over the past five and a half years is more than a publication - it’s a trusted platform and a true community that champions independent voices and meaningful creativity.

That kind of dedication makes a lasting impact, and it does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for the work you continue to do and for including me as part of this collective celebration of independent music.

I'm grateful to be part of the Lazie Indie family and look forward to seeing its continued growth in the year ahead. Wishing you and the entire team a wonderful New Year.

Hello dear friends at Lazie Indie. Thank you so much for this beautiful message and for the love you’ve shown over the years.

Being part of Lazie Indie has always felt less like being featured in a magazine and more like belonging to a community that truly understands the spirit of independent music. Indie music, for me, has always meant freedom - the freedom to be honest, to fail, to evolve, and to keep creating without compromise.

Lazie Indie represents that space where voices aren’t shaped to fit trends, but encouraged to remain authentic. Being on your cover was not just an honour, it was deeply affirming.

I’m grateful for the last 5½ years of what you’ve built - a platform that celebrates artists as humans, not products.

Thank you for believing in the journey, not just the destination. Much love and respect to the entire Lazie Indie family.

Wishing you an inspired and powerful year ahead Warmly, Suresh

Hello Jay, so sorry for the untimely response. Yes, since you have featured me in your prestigious magazine, many independent artists have contacted me wanting me to promote their music.

As you are aware, the mainstream independent artists mean a great deal to me and I devote all of my time and energy trying to help these artists succeed and achieve their goals.

It has been a great year for many of my artists and 2026 looks to be even better. If you notice, I referred to the artists as Mainstream Independent artists because I feel that they deserve that title because in most cases they are much better than the traditional mainstream artist.

I try to promote confidence, motivation, humility and graciousness in all of my artists and they have been extremely loyal to me.

The I Was Born This Way documentary which was based on my hit song I Was Born This Way had its theatrical release worldwide and the reviews have been fantastic! It was also nominated for best documentary.

I am forever grateful to you and your brilliant staff for supporting independent artists all around the globe and for supporting and believing in me.

You are very special and my love for you is and always will be within my heart.

Much love always, Chris Spierer.
